Seller warranty versus vendor warranty: what to confirm

What does a seller warranty mean?

A seller warranty describes a commitment from the seller for the agreed offer. It is separate from a software provider's support, license and refund rules. A warranty label on a catalogue entry is not proof of vendor backing, reseller authorization or uninterrupted service.

What should be written down?

• The product ID and exact package covered.
• The access start and end dates, and the warranty start and end dates.
• Covered failures, exclusions, usage requirements and any reporting deadline.
• The agreed remedy and conditions, including whether replacement, correction or refund is applicable.
• Who to contact and what non-sensitive proof is needed if access fails.

Duration is not the same as coverage

A twelve-month subscription description and a shorter seller warranty can refer to different periods. Neither period proves unlimited usage. Keep the access duration, credit expiry and warranty terms separate when comparing offers.
